FoilScan (foilscan.online) identifies trading cards from photos and shows market prices. This page explains what we collect and why. Questions: team@foilscan.online.
Photos
A photo you scan is resized in your browser, sent to our server, read once by an image-recognition model to identify the card, and then discarded. We never store photos.
What we store when you scan
- What was read from the card (name, set code, number, finish) and the catalog card it matched.
- A random visitor id in a cookie (
fs_vid) and a one-way hash of your IP address that changes every day, to count your free daily scans. - The time, duration and cost of the recognition request.
Your binder
Cards you add to your binder are saved only in your browser's local storage on this device. We do not receive them. Clearing your browser data deletes the binder.
Analytics
On foilscan.online we use a privacy-respecting product analytics service to count page views and actions such as "scan started" or "card added", and to find errors. It sets a cookie with a random id. Form inputs are masked. We do not sell data or use it for advertising.
Service providers
We use hosting, AI image-recognition and analytics providers that process data on our behalf under their data processing terms. Card price data comes from public marketplace sources.
Retention and your rights
Scan records are kept for up to 12 months for quota and quality purposes. You can ask us to delete data linked to your visitor id by writing to team@foilscan.online.
